About
muroso
A magazine for people who build, furnish and live outside.
muroso exists because most writing about houses is either a catalogue or a mood board. Both are pleasant and neither helps at the moment you are standing on a site with a builder, deciding how deep the overhang should be or whether the terrace really needs to be four metres rather than two and a half.
We publish the decisions and the numbers behind them. How far daylight travels into a room. What a courtyard does to the air on a still afternoon in August. What a lime wall costs per square metre and how it repairs. How many weeks of the year a wind wall buys you. Which stone will show every glass of red wine and which one will not.
What we cover
Three sections, published as a monthly issue. Architecture is the building itself: siting, structure, daylight, roofs, envelope. Interiors is what happens inside it: proportion, surface, colour, light and furniture arranged for people rather than for photographs. Outdoor is the half of the year that a warm-climate house spends outside: terraces, shade, water, fire and gardens that survive a dry August.
How we work
No sponsored houses. No affiliate links. No brand supplements dressed as editorial. When a price appears it is a range, because prices are ranges, and when a rule of thumb appears we say where it stops being reliable.
The seven Studio tools run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type reaches our server, there is no account to create and no newsletter you must join to see a result. Your settings are stored locally on your own device so you find them again on your next visit.
The site itself
muroso sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads nothing from third-party servers. Fonts, images and video are hosted by us. Reading this page tells us your IP address and nothing else, and our host deletes that within fourteen days.
Who publishes it
muroso is published by NexTao GmbH in Düsseldorf. Write to info@muroso.com with a correction, a house worth visiting or a question you cannot get a straight answer to elsewhere. We read everything and answer most of it.
